Edith Harte
Edith Harte loved to draw from the time she was a young child. Medical school and a career in obstetrics put a stop to that. Throughout her life, she has been mystified by the precision of reproductive processes of plants, animals, and humans. After retirement, art courses at the Chicago Botanic Garden and Guild of Scientific Illustrators inspired her. A long-term watercolor workshop with Heeyoung Kim has been an ongoing education. Her subjects are drawn from nature. She strives to accurately render the predictable patterns of natural subjects amidst the seeming randomness of their lives. She works in watercolor, graphite and pigment dust.
